Nothing much to add today. Went over to the new house and put another coat of white emulsion on the walls. We had lunch there and spent the afternoon in the garden working out what we are going to do as well as starting to clean up the swimming pool. It has one of those creeping "spiders" that automatically move around the bottom sucking up any debris. We left it on when we went home.
A rickety fence at the bottom of the garden needs to be renovated and I have volunteered for the job. My brief is to provide a snake-proof barrier to the garden but with access to the wild area beyond. The swimming pool has a fence on the house side but nothing on the other side. To conform to Austalian regulations, we have to have a fence on the other side too so as to prevent access by random toddlers who have battled through the swamp and lagoon in order to illegally use our pool to drown themselves unsupervised by adults! Anyway, I'm happy to do something useful and it will keep me in contact with the wildlife like Mr and Mrs Swamphen who were there again today. I shall also clear the wild area beyond to give us easy access to the water's edge and also to make it less snake friendly.
Today's birdlife: nothing much to add from yesterday save for a kookaburra that spent the afternoon in the vicinity.
